At The Royal George, food is at the heart of what we do. Every dish should look good, smell great, and taste amazing. And we believe that to achieve the best possible food you need the best possible ingredients. Our fish is caught, sold, and cooked on the same day, fresh from docks either in Appledore or close by. Our meat is sustainably reared and our poultry is free range, all sourced from local Devon farmers. Even the fruit and vegetables we use are selected on what is best for that time of year. Because of this, our menu changes regularly, as we take advantage of daily deliveries from our suppliers.
There’s something wonderful about eating good food with the people closest to you, especially after a long week. Sunday lunch is a great time to relax and to catch up with friends and family. Here at the George, every Sunday we have a special menu dedicated to the wonderful British roast dinner. Served from midday until 2.30 pm and from 6.00pm until 8.30pm Monday- Saturday and 12-4pm on Sundays, we offer a selection of roast meats with all the trimmings, as well as fish and vegetarian/ vegan options.

Due to the large number of requests, unfortunately we cannot guarantee window tables or specific areas when taking reservations, but we will do our best to accommodate your requests. Your understanding is appreciated.
As a guide, if you choose to dine early and leave your table by 20.15 or later, or book a table from 20.30, there is a higher chance we are able to offer you a window table/a specific area of the restaurant. However, we cannot always guarantee this availability due to other bookings and table configurations.
